On Sunday, I celebrated the start of February by skiing the trail surrounding the world famous Mohonk Mountain House, near New Paltz, NY. I always find the first view of the Mountain House to be pretty scary: it is a gothic pile and looks like Frankenstein might live there.
It’s about 1 1/2 hour drive from home, and it usually has reliable snow for us Cross Country skiers. It did not disappoint. The snow was hard packed, and very skiable. The best part was the weather…it was sunny and mid 20s with a 50 mile view to the distant Catskill Mountains.
