Montclair, New Jersey author Patrick Mondaca, came in last week for professional headshots for website and future book jacket portraits. A world traveler, Patrick has written extensively about his experience serving in the National Guard in Iraq. Writing in a terse, spare style that reminds me of Hemingway, his work is so vivid I swore I could feel the desert heat. His description of wearing a gas mask made me feel claustrophobic. He is working on a new book set in Lucerne, Switzerland. I was intrigued in his contrasts as a warrior/writer. He is also stylish and brought with him an extensive wardrobe for his photography session…more than most guys who come in.

We settled on six different portraits for his collection. For me, a photography session is more like a collaboration between two artists, rather than a standard headshot.
