ALTER EGOS was a one-man photography fine art show that opened at the Berkshire Hathaway Gallery in Montclair, New Jersey in September 2024.

Phil Cantor turns his camera on groups of people whose non-work pursuits are so powerful they create distinct new personas separate from their everyday lives. These portraits became the subject of his exhibition, “ALTER EGOS,” featuring a striking collection of nearly 40 black & white portraits. The subjects of these portraits include Civil War and Revolutionary War reenactors, professional wrestlers, Comic Con superheroes, Native American fancy dancers and participants in the colorful Mummer, Pride and Mermaid parades. Here is a behind-he-scenes look at the making of photographs for the exhibit.
