This week in photography history I am spotlighting, Anna Atkins who was the first person to publish a book with photographs. Born in 1799, she was a botanist who used this exciting new technology of photography to illustrate her book on plants in 1853. This method is called a cyanotype and it’s not what we today would consider a photograph. There was no lens, instead the plants are arranged on a sheet of paper and then soaked in chemicals.
