The Tartan Day Parade (New York City|April 11, 2026) is a photographer's paradise, where Scottish-American heritage fills Sixth Avenue with color, tradition, and unforgettable characters. Art on the streets of the Big Apple. Living 12 miles from Times Square is like living next door to a circus. There's always something happening a bus ride away. This photograph is from the sidewalk in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The artist is creating diazo prints outdoors in his tray. A pottery artist shaping clay on a wheel in a warmly lit studio filled with art supplies. The Schoodic Peninsula is part of Acadia National Park in Maine. While the famous part of Acadia is jammed with people, the Schoodic is not as popular & easy to get to. Schoodic Point is a giant slab of 419-million-year-old granite and jet-black basalt. The rugged outcrop juts into the Atlantic Ocean attracts visitors because it is so stark, beautiful & less-crowded. Photographed with my vintage Rolleiflex camera on expired Kodak film.

A few weeks ago I was invited to judge a photography contest at the historic Wallisch Homestead Annual Art Show in West Milford, New Jersey. After the winning photographs were all picked, I chatted with a delightful gentleman nattily dressed in plaid.
