ILFORD Photo, the British photographic film company, twice a year awards an Analogue Community Grant. Each year they receive hundreds of applicants from around the globe who submit projects to be considered for Ilford’s support. I am pleased to announce that my project, ALTER EGOS*, is one of the five projects shortlisted for this year’s 2025 grant. Once the shortlist is announced, the public votes for their favorite of the five finalists. This year’s group included a photographer from the French Alps documenting mountain life, a photo educator from Houston, and a sports photographer from Medellin, Colombia documenting local soccer culture. The winner was an activist photographer from Spain whose project is to save a wild area on the Mediterranean coast from overdevelopment .

As they say at the Oscars, it was an HONOR to be NOMINATED.

*ALTER EGOS is an exploration of identity and transformation of people such as war reenactors, professional wrestlers, Comic Con superheroes, Native American fancy dancers, and costumed parade participants. The project delves into the lives of individuals whose passionate engagements in unique interests create distinct personas, separate from their everyday existence.
