NY Developer Harry Macklow by Phil Cantor PhotographyThe art world is all a tizzy this week with the news that a private collection called The Macklowe Collection broke all records at auction yesterday… $922 Million. As reported in the NY Times: “The art holdings from a bitter divorce became what Sotheby’s called the most valuable collection ever sold at auction.” Harry Macklowe is one of the major property developers in the City. I photographed him a number of years ago for promotional materials for a new building of his on NY’s Fifth Avenue. I love the one-light simplicity of the portrait, which was done in a conference room in his office.
