I got an unusual email the other day from an author who, while researching the 20th Century sculptor Alberto Giacometti, discovered that my 2019 blog post about a trip I took to the Vancouver (Canada) Art Museum where I photographed myself next to a Giacometti sculpture called “The Walking Man” had been stolen by a Chinese company for their website (see screenshot above) to sell their knock-off copies of famous sculptures. Do the famous artists or their estates know that this foreign company is making money from selling copies of their artwork or the legacy of their famous relatives? Should I feel insulted or flattered?
