At the very top of Northern California is a unique environment. The startingly beautiful temperate rainforest has yielded the tallest trees in the world, the Coastal Redwoods. They are taller than the Statue of Liberty, and when fallen on the ground they are 1.5 times longer than a New York City block, and taller than a bus. They are 1000-2000 years old. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is difficult to photograph these behemoths…photographs do not capture their essence at all. In fact, in four days I never saw a tree fully from the top to the bottom…the crowns of the trees were always out of sight. I did make a few black & white photos with my 40 year old Minolta CLE film camera. #filmphotography #Leica #35mm #redwoods #california #philcantorphotography #fineartphotography www.philcantor.com
