When You Come To The Fork In The Road, Take It!

I went for a walk around Montclair with my son and we happened upon Yogi Berra’s famous Fork in the Road. This comes from one of the most famous Yogi-ism, “when you come to a fork in the road, take it.” But it turns out these are actual real directions to his house! Whichever way you go at the fork, it goes to the same street, taking you to Yogi’s house no matter which way. So he wasn’t even making a joke, these were just the directions to his house!

I had the pleasure of photographing Yogi Berra in 2003 and he was an extremely kind man and a great portrait subject. I reminisced with my son about one halloween when we knocked on a door and is was Yogi Berra who answered the door! He’s an icon of New Jersey and Montclair and of course, of baseball.
