Taking a professional headshot can sometimes be a stressful process. You may not realize it, but there are a lot of things to consider when you’re trying to market yourself as a professional. What type of market are you working in? How do you want to be perceived? How do you want to represent your business? These may seem like loaded questions to be asking for a simple picture. But they’re definitely something to consider [...]

Wow, what a turn out for this year's Oktoberfest in Montclair, NJ! All because of the 5,500 of you that made it out a few weeks ago to Lackawanna Plaza in downtown Montclair for the annual festival. Oktoberfest in Montclair is where you can eat good food, drink good beer, listen to music AND, as usual, the PHIL CANTOR PHOTOGRAPHY PhotoBooth/Studio was there. The goal has always been to take the silliest photos of [...]

The 2018 bicycle “Tour De Montclair” was held this past weekend starting at Lackawanna Plaza. Phil Cantor Photography was there to share the fun with all the bike riders with our "Pedal Portrait Project"! It was a photo booth designed so bikers and pedestrians alike could come and get their photo taken.  It was hilarious. Whole families turned out, some with infants in baby seats, there were mountain bikes, road bikes, one-of-a-kind bikes, and [...]

David's parents had come for a visit from England and  it just seemed a perfect time for a big family portrait. We chose to create the photos at their home instead of my studio, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. I wanted the portraits to have a sense of place. Two good choices presented themselves: Backyard or Front Porch [...]

Montclair, NJ Family Portrait Photographer Phil Cantor writes: I recently had the pleasure of photographing Betsy, an aspiring theater director. She was looking for headshots that would highlight her personality and style for internship and job applications. We accomplished just that with this portrait session. It was wonderful working with a fellow creative person - the entire experience was a collaboration between artists! Many clients come in looking for a single headshot for their resume and [...]

Cafe Life: Quintessential Paris

Montclair, NJ Family Portrait Photographer Phil Cantor writes: Ah, the world of the French cafe. Sit at little round tables for hours with your espresso cup or a glass of wine and watch the world go by. I was in Paris last month and I got to sit along with the Parisians, but I took photographs.  Hemingway, Modigliani, Picasso, Nin spent time sketching, reading and arguing at Les Deux Magots or La Rotonde or Cafe des Flores.
